NOTE: only the barkeep at Sidor Trader buys and sells rad-protection gear. Wear those yourself, or sell them for a nice amount of money at the trader located near Sidor Trader. Your best bet would be to loot hospitals, as those will regularly have the NBC-items or the different coloured Russian version. This means you’ll have to try and find it on your own. Seeing as in the early phases you are rather poor, buying the best of the best anti-rad clothing isn’t an option. Naturally, this clothing is relatively rare when it comes to spawns and rather expensive when trying to buy it (from the trader inside the cabin, located at Sidor Trader along the southern coast). However, this requires the use of clothing that protects against radiation. Preventing getting sick because of radiation is obviously a better and safer tactic. Once you see your health decrease (single triangle pointing downwards) and not bleeding (or starving/dehydrated), you know there’s a big chance you’ve got rads on you. All military locations give off radiation, which can be observed by looking at ones health-meter in the bottom right corner. Last Hope has the addition of the radiation-system, which does exactly what one might think: it gives the player radiation poisoning. Just pretend you’re playing vanilla DayZ when it comes to your first steps.Īfter having geared up somewhat, the next step of business would be to seek out nearby military locations. Luckily, the addition of the FIDOv-mod means there are much more clothing items (and weapons) to be found. You have nothing, everything costs a lot of money and every item you try to sell gives you only a few rubbles (the currency used, more on that later). Let’s call it the ‘hobo-phase’ from STALKER. Just as with vanilla DayZ, you start as a rookie on the Last Hope server.
